Suzanne Cantwell Birkin
Suzanne Cantwell Birkin is Artistic Director of Gravity’s Angel. She hails from America, where she received her Bachelor and Master degrees in dance from Temple University in Philadelphia. Before her move across the pond, Suzanne danced in a company from North Carolina called ChoreoCollective. During her tenure in New York City, she was an independent choreographer and dance teacher. Her choreography has been performed in Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York City, Connecticut and North Carolina. One of her most recent works, Mrs. Someone, was performed at The American Dance Festival, and won the Best Dances 2003 award from the Independent Newspapers in North Carolina. Recently, she has worked with Lea Anderson through the Learning Moves project with Creative Partnerships and has also danced with Being Frank Physical Theatre. Suzanne is also passionate about teaching dance to children and adults, and teaches for the Coventry Performing Arts Service, Pattison’s College, and a private ballet school in Solihull.
Ruth Barclay
Ruth Barclay has just completed a Dance BA(hons) at the University of Chichester. She has had work experience with companies such as Akram Khan Company, StopGAP Dance Company and Motionhouse. She has also spent a year with Springs Dance Company on the Apprenticeship scheme which gave her opportunites to perform throughout the England and Italy. She spent 6 months at the Dance University, Danshogskolan in Stockholm, Sweden in 2009, learning street dance, house and acrobatics alongside improving her Contemporary. She plans to gain experience in performance and teaching before continuing into a Masters or PGCE
Gemma Bowen
Gemma Bowen completed her Dance Degree at Coventry University, and has gone on to teach dance in the citys shools, through Coventry's Performing Arts Centre.
Alicia Harrison
Alicia Harrison has recently completed her BA Honours Dance Degree at Chester University and is hoping to continue her studies with a Masters at Coventry University in September focusing on Dance for the camera. Alicia has danced since an early age and is passionate about dancing and performing.
Denise Horsley
Denise Horsley is an Independent Dance Artist and Choreographer based in Warwickshire. She trained at London College of Dance and graduated with first class honours. She has performed work with DX3, Cloud Dance Company and Gravity's Angel. She teaches and choreographs in a variety of educational and community settings.
